Award Focus - RecoveryAyr

"RecoveryAyr is a grassroots recovery charity,  offering peer led activities, support and connections along with training and volunteering opportunities which support individual and whole family recovery from alcohol or drug use.

We are establishing a new model, a recovery hub, which is truly led by our participants, volunteers, family members and the local community. We are aiming to create a new vibrant and thriving venue in the heart of Ayr that enriches and enhances our whole community. Our exciting project is unique to the area and we hope that by developing the hub we will be able to expand the activities and opportunities currently available in South Ayrshire, which will support people to continue with their recovery journey, providing hope that recovery is possible, alongside whole family support. By delivering an alcohol and drug-free venue, we hope that this community space will ultimately reduce stigma and increase wider community integration." Faye Murfet, Trustee of RecoveryAyr

Our team says... "The work of RecoveryAyr is a strong fit with our Emotional Wellbeing and Relationships theme, where we are interested in holistic support to adults who have faced a number of disadvantages or harms such as poverty, mental ill health, drug or alcohol misuse, violence or homelessness. We know that strong networks and support from family, friends and community services play a fundamental role in recovery and RecoveryAyr places their community and relationships at the heart of their work. We wish the team well in their next step of developing a community hub and look forward to learning from their progress." Shelby Brown, Funding Support Assistant
