Climate Commitment
Our strategy is to reduce and prevent poverty and trauma in Scotland. In recognising the risks of the climate emergency, and its disproportionate impact on those from low-income backgrounds and other disadvantaged groups, we know that we have a responsibility to act. As a funder and an investor, we must do what we can to address the climate emergency through our own actions and supporting those of our grant holders
That is why we signed up to ACF’s Funder Commitment on Climate Change in 2021. Through this, we are holding ourselves accountable for the actions we have taken to strengthen the six climate pillars, including our grant making, our operations, and our investments.
We recently completed our 2023 report for ACF (Association of Charitable Foundations) and this can be accessed here.
We have also made substantial progress by reviewing our pooled investments portfolio which now has close to zero exposure to fossil fuels. The Carbon Intensity of the portfolio has halved within 18 months.
52% of respondents to our Grant Holder’s survey said that at least some of their work focuses on the climate crisis.
40% said that they want to introduce it but lack the time or resources. This is another area we will respond to through our Funder Plus support in the coming year.
