The scheme was established in 2014 to help our current 3rd year Robertson Scholars to enhance their C.V and gain valuable experience in the workplace before entering their final year of university.
We are seeking organisations from all industries to put themselves forward to host an intern at this point.
Interested in hosting? Key details include:
- The Internship Scheme is fully funded by The Robertson Trust. We can fund up to 225 hours of work experience or shadowing for each scholar and this can be completed full-time or part-time. Each scholar will receive a bursary for the duration of their internship.
- We are completely flexible and leave it up to the host organisation to agree the start date and schedule of hours with the scholar.
- You would get the chance to interview interested scholars and choose who you think would be best suited to the role/organisation.
If you are interested in potentially hosting a Robertson Scholar Intern in Summer 2023, please review our Internship Flyer for further information. If you would like to progress, please complete our Internship Overview Form. The Internship Overview form will ask for further information on the work experience opportunity you can provide to scholars so please only complete this once you have full details of this.
The closing date to complete the Internship Overview Form is Friday 27 January.

Who are Robertson scholars?
Each year, over 700 young people, known as Robertson scholars, are supported through Journey to Success in a broad range of subjects across Scotland’s universities. Since 1992, the programme has supported over 1,000 young people to overcome financial and social barriers to gain the university education and career they aspire to.
The programme was devised to offer self-development opportunities and financial support to 16-25 year olds in Scotland who face barriers to higher education. We are particularly interested in supporting students from backgrounds currently underrepresented in higher education.
You can find out more about our Journey to Success Programme here.
