So, What Happens Next? Hard Edges Scotland

Launched in 2019, Hard Edges Scotland brought together a range of quantitative and qualitative data, stories and experiences to help understand Scotland through the lens of five key indicators of disadvantage – homelessness; substance dependency; offending; mental health and domestic violence. Following the publication of the report, a micro-grants programme was launched to encourage others to talk about the report and the issues it raised for them, culminating in an event in February 2020 which allow people to meet and talk about how system change could and should be possible.

Youth Scotland Rural Action Fund - Year two summary

In 2017, the Robertson Trust approved a £120,000 award to Youth Scotland to help provide resources to extend support for universal youth work in rural communities.

Hard Edges Scotland

Commissioned by Lankelly Chase and The Robertson Trust and authored by Heriot-Watt University, Hard Edges Scotland also details the challenges that charitable services and the public sector are facing. In particular, the report illustrates the mismatch between the multiple disadvantages people face and the fact that services are often set up to address ‘single issues’. Social Bridging Finance - Interim Evaluation

Our Social Bridging Finance pilot aims to build knowledge around an alternative funding model which brings together a working partnership of public sector, third sector and independent funders. SBF is currently being trialled by three demonstration projects based in Dundee, East Renfrewshire and South Ayrshire. As a funding approach, SBF aims to ensure the long-term sustainability of third sector services which can evidence success by enabling public services to innovate and move resources towards preventative services and measures. This report shares the findings of an initial evaluation by Iconic Consulting and Glasgow Caledonian University.
