Community Vehicle Grants

Capital funding for a vehicle to support the work of charities with an annual income of between £25,000 and £2 million.

Important Information

Later this year, we will be introducing adjustments to the structure of Our Funds.

So that we can make the necessary changes to our communications, applications, monitoring forms and guidance, we are currently closed to new applications and will be reopening with the new look version of Our Funds in September 2024.

This will include changes to the income thresholds and maximum award sizes available through our Wee and Small Grants. Our maximum Wee Grant award will increase from £2,000 to £5,000, and our maximum Small Grant will increase from £15,000 to £20,000. We look forward to sharing more detail over the Summer, including what is in and out of scope for funding through our themes.

As a result of the pausing of Our Funds, we are currently experiencing a high volume of calls, emails and new applications. Our Funding team are continuing to work hard to respond to enquiries and assess applications within our published deadlines, but if there are any changes to this we'll notify applicants on an individual basis.

For more information and detail on what this means for applicants, please see our latest updates >

Introducing upcoming changes to Our Funds (May 2024)

Please note that our current Work Pathways open call sits separately to Our Funds. The current closing of Our Funds does not impact this open call.

This is one of our four funding offers for registered charities who work to address poverty and trauma in Scotland.

For more details of the kind of work we fund, take a look at Who and what we fund, and for information about the revenue grants we offer, see Our Funds.

*Definition:
Annual Income: This is based on the money your organisation received in the last financial year, as shown in your most recent annual accounts. If you are a new organisation, which has not yet produced accounts, you can base this on the income you expect to bring in in the year ahead.

As a general rule, we will only accept applications for Community Vehicle Grants from charities whose annual income is between £25K and £2M. There are some cases where we will make exceptions, for example, if your income last year was less than £25K but you are growing your activities and projecting increased costs; or if your income was over £2M due to one-off funding for a capital project, or additional services delivered to support your community during the pandemic. If you would like to be considered for a Community Vehicle Grant but you’re still not sure if it’s right for your charity, please call us on 0141 353 4321 to discuss.

Guidance highlights – you’ll need:

  • At least three unconnected Trustees on your charity’s Board
  • Recent independently examined or audited annual accounts
  • A safeguarding policy if you’re working with young or vulnerable people.
